Captain America Fidget Spinners

metal fidget spinner based on Marvels Captain America shield

It would be impossible to draw up a list of the best toys for 2017 without including at least 1 fidget spinner. These are without a doubt one the toy craze of 2017 so far. The original fidget spinners were designed to relieve stress and provide a means of releasing nervous energy - then some smart cookie noticed that all kids loved playing with them and a global phenomenon was born. There are thousands of different designs for fidget spinners but some of the best we've seen are based on super-hero characters. There are a number of very cool Batman logo shaped spinners available but I think our favourite has to be the fidget spinners based on Captain America's shield. Available from as little as £5 online.

LEGO Junior Cars 3 Thunder Hollow Playset

  Cars 3 Lego Juniors Plays

We love Lego Juniors toys because they allow small hands to play with big boy brands. They're also pretty indestructible as far as we can tell. This kid-sized lego set with larger bricks than normal is suitable for ages 4 and above. It comes from the new range of playsets released in conjunction with the latest Lightning McQueen adventure, Cars 3. This playset includes 4 cars from the latest movie - Lightning McQueen, Cruz Ramirez, Miss Fritter and Broadside. Playskool Heroes Galactic Heroes Star Wars AT-AT

star wars at-at playskool

Continuing with the theme of big boys toys designed for smaller kids, how cool is this AT-AT from Playskool?! It has realistic battle sounds and flashing lights. The AT-AT's legs are poseable and can be popped off when it's destroyed by Luke Skywalker and his rebels. The set comes with an Imperial Pilot figurine that fits in the cockpit. Recommended ages from 3 and up. Be warned there is a huge range of Star Wars ships and figurines, all as awesome as this, so this might become an expensive hobby for you! They're also a slightly older toy so it's becoming more and more difficult to find them. Expect to pay around £70 if you can get your hands on one.

Hatchimals

hatchimals

This was the most popular toy of 2016 and looks like it will stay at the top of kids wish lists through 2017. Hatchimals come in egg form. There are 5 types: Draggle, Owlicom, Penguala, Burtle and Bearakeet. The Hatchimal hatches as a result of the child singing, talking to it, playing with it. The colour is a mystery until it hatches! Once it’s hatched, there are 3 stages: baby, toddler and kid. It sings Hatchy Birthday and can learn how to walk, play and dance! And it speaks! I’m tempted to get one just to see how they do it! Expect to pay between £50 and £65 depending on the model.
